Hot Smoked Salmon - Soy Sauce Marinade and Honey BBQ Rub

Salmon is often overlooked on the BBQ. Unlike white fish, it has a strong, yet unique flavor. Not quite fishy, but definitely in its own class. We love salmon here at the UFO BBQ and adding in some additional flavors on top of a great fish is our favorite way to do it!

Ingredients:
1/2 Lb Salmon Filets

Soy Marinade:
3 Garlic Cloves - Minced
1 Tsp Ground Ginger
1 Tbsp Olive Oil
1/2 Cup Soy Sauce

The UFO BBQs Crop Circle Honey BBQ Rub:
2 Tbsp Honey Granules (https://amzn.to/3ppRBM1)
1/2 Tbsp Paprika
1 Tsp Garlic Powder
1/2 Tsp Black Pepper
1/4 Tsp Onion Powder

Step 1: Mix together Marinade

Add together the marinade ingredients to a ziplock bag, and add in Salmon Filets
Leave the salmon meat side down in the marinade for 2 hours

Step 2: Apply Rub

Remove the salmon from the bags and pat dry

Generously apply the honey bbq rub to the salmon (make sure that you did NOT include salt when creating this rub. our salmons salt comes from the soy sauce already infused into the meat!)

Place the filets scale side down onto a wire rack and put back into the fridge for 30-45 minutes

Step 3: Pre-heat Smoker and Smoke the fish

Pre-heat smoker to 275 degrees

Put salmon on top rack on cedar planks (pro tip: if you dont have salmon planks, a piece of peach paper folded in half works well!)

At the 30 minute mark, brush with melted salted butter

Smoke for appx an hour total

Enjoy!
